Tardis quite likes LDAP.
To add someone to a group in LDAP:
bung@gallifrey:/$ ldapvi -D 'cn=admin,dc=tardis,dc=ed,dc=ac,dc=uk' -b 'ou=Group,dc=tardis,dc=ed,dc=ac,dc=uk' '(cn=admin)'
