Hardware
Mara is a Sun Netra T1 AC200 donated by Charles Leahy (charles). It's a 1U UltraSparc IIe box with 1GB of RAM and one 10K Seagate 73GB Cheetah (we are looking for another disk). It is also one of the few machines in our rack which is installed with the correct rackmounting kit.
OS
It runs Debian GNU/Linux 3.1 (sarge) and not much else right now.
SILO is a bit buggered. It looks for silo.conf on sda2 but it should use the one on sda1. Please contact pert if you know how force silo to be re-installed beyond using -f. (It seems to be a problem with SILO on RAID1.)
Right now the following file and parameters is set in the
boot-file
PROM option to make it autoboot:
1/boot/vmlinuz initrd=/boot/initrd.img root=/dev/md0
Storage
As mentioned above, it currently has one 73GB disk but it is setup with RAID 1 in preperation for a second.
Serives
Mara currently does not run any services but will probably become a web server when another disk has been found.
